Even though I did not see the VH1 special in its entirety, I still cant even fathom any review from anybody that says anything but utter perfection. Flawless performances from the worlds best Diva's. i do enjoy and love the entertainers that were cut from the vidio. However, in my opinion, they didnt belong on stage with the worlds best. I still dont know how annastasia pulled it off, but she was given her finest gift and acheivement being on stage with the best. dixie chicks didnt belong there either but were included for some reason. Celine, owned the crowd, as she should have.
i couldnt wait till this show airedit all starts with mariah carrey even though i dont care for her she gave it her all and there came gloria estefan singing her best songs then the true diva aretha franklin singing with mariah carrey aretha should have sung by herself.shania twain was next.then came celion dion she sung with caroll king ad then did my heart will go on.but the best about the diva show was when the girls did you,ve got a friend and then aretha said its church time
This guide is a brief introduction about the lighting. It is aimed at the production manager and production coordinator for their understanding of lights they will be asked for certain jobs in order to develop. Cameraman You can see some parts of the history of lighting some interesting products, so please read. This guide will also help some of the technical language used in TV production.
In simple terms, light is divided into 3 main types, Tungsten, HMI & Fluorescent split.
1)How does Tungsten?
Now, power is managed is simply a very fine wire coil (called a tungsten filament) is heated and lit it "hot" which in turn lights off. The color temperature of light is around 3200k (like your light bulbs at home)
2) HMI what that means?
(Hydrargyrum Halide Iodide) lights are the same color temperature as daylight (5600K to 6000K). They produce about four times as much light as a tungsten filament lamp of the sameWattage. HMI lamps work differently from tungsten in that a spark will "jump" or "arcs" between two pins and a spark ignites a gas that is kept under pressure in the lamp housing. If this gas is lit, it is not so much happy. These lamps need a so-called ballast. This is a heavy box, the current steps and passes the high voltage to the lamp with a heavy duty "header cable. (Remember to look, never in an HMI, if it happens, it would be like looking directly atthe sun!)
3) fluorescence bands is that, like light?
In a nutshell're on the same principle as domestic strip lights. They are popular because they are lightweight and give a beautiful soft light.
LIGHTS
Standard Interview Light Kit
We offer the most frequently asked about kit consists of four tungsten lights: Arri, a 650-watt or 800-watt light with a chimera, an Arri 300-watt light and a Dedo light. We also have a Gel kit with aSeries of gels and reflectors.
Here is a brief description of each light:
Arri 800-watt light (Redhead)
It is an open face (there is no lens in front of the lamp) and artificial light. For interviews, is that light typically be used with a Chimera (more on chimeras in a minute) as a key light, using the main light to a subject's face light.
Arri 650-watt light (Mizar)
This is a Fresnel light - it has a lens with raised circular edge on its outer surface, whichbe used to focus the beam. It is often used instead of the Arri 800 and in such cases is usually provided with a Chimera. For interviews, this is usually accompanied by a Chimera as a key light. However, you can create a gobo and this light can be used to take a slash of color on the background.
Arri 300-watt light (Mizar)
As the 650-watt light, which is a Fresnel light. For interviews, it is commonly known as "Lights on" is used - a light for all the shadows created to soften the keyLight) usually with some diffusion gel (more on gels in one minute to reduce the intensity. These lights are also used as backlighting in an interview - a light directed from behind the object at the top of the head and shoulders to highlight it.
Chimera
A chimera is also called light box or Soft Box. It fits on a light fits with what is a ring of speed, where the barn doors held in place. To remove the barn doors and set the speed-ring in place. TheChimera looks a bit like a box with white and silver material. It measures the speed of the ring and sits in front of the background so that the light passes through them. The effect is soft and the lights turned up a hard source to diffuse.
Trivia: The Chimera Soft box was invented in the U.S. by a location photographer and mountain climber to photographers with studio-quality lighting delivered on site. They founded the company Chimera in 1980 and operating from Boulder, Colorado. TheirProducts will continue to be made in the USA, sewn in homes seamstress, and are individually tested and endorsed.
Speed Rings:
Gels
Gels are made from gelatin and are available in different colors on rolls. They are cut into blocks and then fit to the barn doors of the light with alligator clips (mounted like clothespins they are just metal). Gels are an essential part of any lighting kit. They can be used for color correction, or create special lighting effects.Understanding this requires a basic understanding of color temperature. Different types of light sources have different amounts of red or blue in them and can affect the color of the image you filming. For example, tungsten lights have a different color temperature than daylight. This means that if you shoot in a room with lots of natural light coming in and you wanted a theme with tungsten lights, you have a problem light. One solution is to use color correction gels beforethe tungsten lights. These gels will have the light turn of the tungsten source is the same color temperature as the incident light. Other gels are used to diffuse or soften the light. Others may the light more flattering to interviewee. Some are used to add a light source and voices, the color in the background.
Dedo Lights
These lights were from a German director of photography (DOP) develops called Dedo Weigert. Hence the name "Dedo. They are small andcompact and have a light output equivalent to much larger lights. They also provide a precise control of light they produce. For interviews, they can be used as a backlight or to highlight features in the background behind the interview.
Other Tungsten Lights
1000-watt Arri Fresnel Light
In the same order of magnitude as the Arri 300-watt and 650-watt Fresnel lights, that light has a lens with raised circular ridges on its surface that is used to adjust the focusBeams. The 1000-watt light is generally for the help, an indoor location lighting.
Arri 2000-watt Light (Blonde)
) Move from the Redhead (800-watt open-faced light you have the blonde. This light is typically used to help light indoors, although I have some people to it for help, have known an interview using light.
Fluorescent
Kino Flo
Kino Flo fluorescent lights are mounted in specially designed fixtures to hold two or four or twofour-meter pipes. You create a cool (in the "not hot") sense of the word, soft, energy-saving lamps, which is excellent for interviews for the lighting and people in general. They are used as key light and cast a soft diffused light on the subject, which is very flattering. They are an excellent alternative to using a tungsten light with a chimera. Another advantage, they shall both tungsten and daylight tubes so you can easily use them in enclosed spaces where there is a large window orSkylight that allows in plenty of natural light.
Trivia: They were invented by the gaffer, Frieder Hochheim, and his best boy, Gary Swink, the film Barfly in 1987. These two innovative companies, which was in a tight domestic situation and the DOP with a wide angle lens. This meant there was no room for a conventional lighting rig set. The solution - fluorescent lights, which could be hidden, easy to assemble and with quiet remote controlled ballasts. Because they do not do the heat, they areExcellent, if you shoot in the same place for a long time. They were a real hit with the cast and crew of Barfly and are now used in films and TV production around the world.
We often offer cinema Flos, interviews with celebrities and other high-caliber talent to shoot. You are in the interview saturations popular because it is not the heat, do generate Sam tungsten light. The range includes: 4 x 4-foot tubes in a device, 4 x 2 meter tubes in a fixture and 4 x2-foot tubes in a lamp.
Diva Lites
Manufactured by Kino Flo, these lights also a fluorescent light. They only come in one size - four two-foot tubes - and they have a built-in as a remote ballast dimmer. This makes them very fast to install and remove. As the cinema Flos are superb Diva Lites for recording interviews. She cast a soft diffused light that is flattering for talent and interview partners.
Production Advantage: Everything comes inin one case, if you are abroad there is less baggage, moreover, can light up very quickly and de rigged the lamp to cool down not necessarily to the team on a temporary wrap-no overtime! (sorry team)
Kamio 6 Ring Light
This is a unique light that rises to the barrel of the camera, so you get a constant light from the axis of the lens. The result is a soft light that smooths rough edges and pleasing to the talent. It has a palm-sized ballast which mounts onthe camera is running and the camera battery. The kit also contains a stone-box tray holder. We used the light in the studio and on location for static shots and tracking shots. In the case of camera movements, it offers a consistent flattering light. When the camera is approaching the issue, an attractive catch the light produces a white ring in the eye, which is very flattering.
HMI lamp
They are mainly used in closed spaces with lots of natural light environment or outdoorsduring the day.
Arri 200-watt HMI Light
These are portable HMI lamps that operate on batteries or AC power and can, for the repeal of ideal light on talent filmed outdoors. We use them primarily for pieces to camera or interviews outside shot.
Arri 575-watt HMI Light
This light is with a network and is most likely to speak to illuminate an indoor location with ambient air or sunlight for illumination camera talent, if line voltage is used to provide powerbe easily accessible.
Arri 1.2K (1200-Watt) HMI Light
This light can be supplied with a network with power. It is most commonly used for lighting in the interior of a building with the surrounding air or sunlight for illumination talent indoors or outdoors, especially when used in a particularly bright outdoors.
Arri 2.5K (2500-Watt) HMI Light
This light can be supplied with a network with power. It is most commonly used for lighting in the interior of a building with the surrounding air or sunlight for lighting outdoorLocations.

It's moments like these that make "High School Musical" special.
At last VH1 have bought out a new Divas CD!! The concert itself was great with nine of the top divas in the world today. The CD does miss off some of the good songs like
"If I Could Turn Back Time" by Cher & Cyndi Lauper
"Rainy Dayz" by Mary J. Blige & Whitney Houston
and "Love Is A Battlefield" by Mary J. Blige & Shakira but the best divas are left on it.
"You Shook Me All Night Long" is without a doubt the best song on the CD with pounding vocals by Céline Dion and Anastacia, an unlikely pairing with an unlikely song but it is still great!!
"Believe" keeps the dance mood going and is another great song for the CD, this version of "Believe" is so much better than the one she sung at VH1 Divas '99.
"This Is A Song For The Lonely" another great song by the legendary diva, probably the second best song on the CD.
"Underneath Your Clothes" this is ok but I was a little disappointed that Shakira chose to sing this song instead of "Whenever, Wherever" which would have been a lot better.
"Landslide" not the best song ever but I love Stevie Nicks so it's great!
"One Day In Your Life" great great great. Anastacia was one of the best performers on the show and this song proves it.
"I'm Alive" I love this song and I think the best voice in the business, Céline Dion, sung it superbly.
"A New Day Has Come" a bit like Shakira, I was a little disappointed that Céline sung this song instead of one of her hits like "Think Twice" but it is still a great version.
The Elvis tribute is last and although "Jailhouse Rock" "Always On My Mind" "Heartbreak Hotel" and "Can't Help Falling In Love" are all great where is "Wear My Ring" by Stevie Nicks??? All four divas sung their respective songs perfectly but I am still confused as to why Stevie Nicks' song was left off.
A great CD and i'm just hoping next years Divas will be as good. Tina Turner, Cher, Céline Dion, Dolly Parton, Stevie Nicks, Anastacia, Shakira and Whitney Houston would make the ultimate divas!!
