When you have played the last time? I'm not talking about TV or game shows to play in some games to work, where stress and humiliation are cleverly disguised under the guise of motivating fun. I'm talking about an enjoyable activity with no agenda, no time and not worry about how messy you or how stupid you look. Do not do something, do you choose, to have. Play in order to play, not to win.
Often on the journey from childhood to adulthood, we forget how and whyto play. One day we will wake up ... grown-up! It is as if there is a mysterious inner guide in our head and said, "Now it's time for Barbie and her pink camper behind and enter the real world, the serious thinker and a doer." And so begins a long stretch of all work and no play. (Think Jack Nicolson was sent to the psycho in the movie, The Shining, when that happens!)
But we do not give up so easily on our inner child. One day as I walked by a parknear my house with Joe and our dog, we reviewed a dialogue, we had several times when crossing this park.
I said: "I used to love to go on the swings when I was a child."
He said: "Well, why not?"
I said: "I Here?" I would be ridiculous. "
However, were empty on this day, everything vibrates, and when he pushed me again, I decided to go for it. I sat my butt on the flexible seat (hmmm, a lot cushier than my childhood swing set consisting of hard metal seatsSteel posts loosely anchored to the ground by a piece of cement that dangerously elevated the grass, if you went up). I started the movements of the bending and straightening machines for my legs, and after the addition of height and speed. (It is like riding a bike you never forget.) Within seconds I was swallowed up by trusts me roar of the wind in your hair and tickling in the belly. When I later, I started laughing and shouted to Joe as a five-year-old: "Look, I can touch the sky!" When Iwas ready to come out, I gently scraped my feet on the soft brown bark slows descend below me, just enough for a flying. I could still do! I was young again. That was my first of many visits to my neighborhood just for fun rocking it!
The game is so simple to make (after all, children can do it 16 hours a day), and not have to cost much. The next time you're in a toy department, spend a few dollars and buy a colorful, striped, or perhaps a hoola-hoop. It isGuaranteed to give lots of laughter, either by yourself (even if in a mirror, of course), or when your friends come to visit. It takes a while to what it hang again, so here's a tip: angle it further down in the front and take the first swing slower than you think you need. Then you can start circling!
A goddess is never too old to play. Remember, 1983 Cindi Lauper hit "Girls Just Want to Have Fun?" In 2003, fifty years old, Cindi yet to undertake suchsong on tour. I catch her on a VH1 "Divas Live" special singing in 2004, she was a joy to see nor to dance and smile ... still have fun.
5 game variants:
• Take a break to play with your children, whether it's a board game, cycling, running around the backyard or jumping in rain puddles.
• Try singing playfully ordinary household (made-up silly songs while you're doing to make them have a pillow fight with your bedPartner).
• Make you do require a list of your favorite games or activities and that one of them a week.
• If you focus mainly stressed at work, you can doodle for a few minutes with some mindless (before walking, choose a flower).
• Once in a while, honor your inner child by his first and working conditions later.
